Today I'm going to talk to you about an unusual item, at least in the "beauty" category, an essential for many stars and bloggers, an ally to enhance your skin and hair! But what is it, my dear lady?
Well, this is the 100% mulberry silk pillowcase.
Why is it classified in the beauty category?
- because it protects the skin and hair from dehydration and friction that breaks the ends,
- It makes your hair soft and shiny,
- protects against skin aging,
- has a beneficial effect against asthma, allergies, eczema...
And yes, who would have thought it, silk, unlike cotton, has incredible properties for the skin and hair.
Cotton, besides its comfort, would dry out the skin because it would absorb sebum from the scalp, and skincare products applied to the face.
Similarly, it would accentuate wrinkles on the face, the famous sleep wrinkles : pillow marks (therefore, people who always sleep on the same side are more marked on one side of the face).
Cotton pillowcases also promote hair breakage due to incessant friction during the night, whereas on silk the hair glides.
What do I really think about it?
I think that if I hadn't received it as a test sample from Silkmood, I probably never would have bought one. Why? Because I was way too afraid of slipping on it. Yes, it's beautiful, it's classy, it's girly, and especially since watching Desperate Housewives and seeing Gaby's silk bed, I thought it was a shame that it would slip. At night, I definitely prefer comfort over style.
And what's the real story? Well, I'm amazed, the silk doesn't slip at all! Hehe, it's even classier! At least for the pillowcases; I haven't tested the complete set yet.
What else have I noticed? That my nighttime skincare products (at 70 bucks a bottle, you want the product to stay on you, right?) don't end up soaking into my pillow. Yes, silk doesn't absorb. Incidentally, people who drool a lot at night will be in for a real problem because the pillowcase doesn't absorb your "oral fluid," and in the morning you might find yourself with a very damp pillowcase (you can tell who's used to it...). Okay, not very glamorous, but what can you do? It's part of life...
My hair, for its part, wasn't any shinier (after a month and a half of testing), but I did notice that it tangled significantly less. This is certainly due to the fact that it glides more easily on the pillowcase and is less prone to friction. I think that for the other aspects (softness, shine, breakage), we'll have to see over the long term.
I also received the silk eye mask. And I love it! I take it with me when I'm a passenger in a car on long journeys (because I always sleep in the car) or to hotels because they often only have blackout curtains and no blinds (which really annoys me, by the way), and the slightest light keeps me awake, like an alarm clock, a TV light... basically, it's a real pain, so this mask is a lifesaver when I'm not sleeping at home. You can also be imaginative and use it for your erotic games... well, just saying...
